Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I am not accepting insurance. This helps me to be the best therapist possible to my clients.

How will I know what to expect for rates and billing?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimatein writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good FaithEstimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

Why don’t you accept insurance?

You may have noticed more and more therapists are shifting away from engagement with the managed care model, which asks for frequent treatment updates and refined diagnoses, which can impact your care, coverage, and the information shared with any number of databases accessed by third parties (i.e. life insurance companies). Moving to private pay was a very difficult decision for me. I strongly believe in keeping healthcare affordable. After taking insurance for a number of years, I realized a few things: the size of my caseload challenged my ability to perform my role to the best of my ability, and sharing substantial information with insurance companies about mental health felt invasive. I can now offer coordination of care with your other providers, robust availability depending on your needs, and the highest quality attention to your inner world and goals. My rate reflects my expertise and the quality of my work.

To offset cost and administrative burden on your end, I am happy to submit a superbill to your insurance directly. Superbills provide an opportunity to get a significant percentage of the fee reimbursed through out-of-network benefits. I also offer a sliding scale for those facing financial challenges. Please inquire directly to discuss your specific circumstances.
